Dome CCs determine how much compression your engine will have. The lower the CC for a dome is, the less volume the combustion chamber in that dome has, which leads to more pressure when spark occurs, forcing the piston down with greater velocity. Simply put the subsequent result is better performance. As the CC go down the compression goes up. 17cc domes can have 180-220 lbs compression where as 22cc will have 130-150 lbs. Domes that are 17cc to 19cc are race gas only, 20cc to 21cc, are 50/50 pump/race gas mix, and 22cc+ can be used with 100% pump gas (we always recommend at least 91 octane). specs are for 0 - 1500 ft above sea level. Above 1500 feet you are able to run a higher compression dome on lower octane fuel, for example 21cc can (and should) be easily run with pump gas at 5000 ft.
